Dustin Pedroia Swinging Red-Hot Bat, As He Quietly Continues to Have Stellar Start to SeasonEditor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

Will Middlebrooks is all the rage right now when it comes to the Red Sox lineup, and that may be taking away some of the recognition from the team's leader.

Second baseman Dustin Pedroia is quietly having himself a very nice season, as the MVP continues to rake at the plate, turning things on as of late.

Pedroia carries an eight-game hitting streak into play on Tuesday against the Royals, and he's hitting .343 (12-for-35) over the course of those eight games. In fact, Pedroia has seen average rise quickly over the last month, as he's up to .311 on the season after dipping to .269 on April 20.

Of course, Middlebrooks has been on fire as well, hitting three home runs and driving in nine runs in the last two games for the Sox.
