Mariano Rivera Tears ACL During Yankees Batting Practice, Career in Jeopardy (Video)

Mariano Rivera has likely thrown his last pitch of the 2012 season — but has he also thrown the last pitch of his career?

The 42-year-old was taken to Kansas University MedWest hospital during the Yankees-Royals game after injuring his knee during batting practice. Team physician, Dr. Vincent Key provided a diagnosis of the torn A.C.L., according to the New York Times.

“If that’s the report,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi told the Times, “if that’s what it is, that’s as bad as it gets.”
