Scripps Spelling Bee Offers Chance to Tackle Sports’ Most Difficult Names

The championship round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee took place in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night, with more than 200 students studying hard with the hopes of being crowned the top speller in the nation.

It’s questionable to consider spelling a sport, but the competition is just as intense as some of the greatest games out there. These students study for months and for hours at a time and they spell words on the spot, in front of live TV cameras and with an enormous amount of pressure on them.

The sports world should have its own spelling bee, based on the difficulty of some of the names of today’s athletes.

We picked out some of the best names, most of them long and with strange spellings, so you can put your spelling knowledge to the test.
