On Sunday, Croatia got its 2012 UEFA European Championship campaign off to a flying start. It beat Ireland 3-1, and stood atop Group C at the end of the day.
Croatia’s performance was not only well received back home. Fans who travelled to Poznan, Poland were delighted at both the result and manner of victory. In fact, one fan was so happy with the team’s play, he just had to tell manager Slaven Bilic in person.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t wait until the end of the game to do so. Dressed in full, Croatian checkers, he ran onto the field, evaded security, and headed Bilic’s way. The Croatia boss saw him coming, and tried to wave him away. But the adoring fan wouldn’t take no for an answer.
He approached Bilic and reached for an embrace, which was returned. What followed was nothing less than a full kiss … on the mouth. Bilic loves Croatia. The fan loves Croatia. For one moment, they shared that common bond. We suppose, things are just done a little differently in Europe.
Bilic didn’t even try to wipe the memories away. He went right back to barking out orders to his players.
