Didier Drogba's next stop isn't China or Europe, but India, where he will try his hand at coaching.
Drogba has kept the soccer world guessing over his future since the expiration of his Chelsea contract. However, the Ivorian is set to give management a shot, albeit in the one-off T20 exhibition, according to gulfnews.
Drogba is set to manage a squad comprised of the winners of Pepsi's T20 nation-wide amateur tournament. The managerial novice will have his hands full as he faces an all-star squad managed by Bhaichung Bhutia, India's former soccer captain.
The T20 game is the latest chapter in Drogba's history with Pepsi and India. The Ivorian already tried (and failed) to learn cricket in a Pepsi commercial with former teammates Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres.
Where Drogba will be playing next is anyone's best guess. Rumors have linked the striker with moves to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua (where he would join former teammate Nicolas Anelka), U.A.E. club Al-Wasl (managed by the always-entertaining Diego Maradona), and a host of other top European clubs.
Drogba is coming off of a roller-coaster season at Chelsea. After being marginalized by Andre Villas-Boas for much of the first half of the season, he returned to play a crucial role in Chelsea’s FA Cup and 2012 UEFA Champions League double under Roberto Di Matteo.
