Kevin Garnett may have drawn criticism for abruptly leaving the court following the Celtics' loss to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but it was his failure to speak to reporters that drew him a fine.
Garnett was fined $25,000 for not making himself available to the media after the 101-88 loss on Saturday, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced Wednesday.
Rajon Rondo and Garnett both left the court without congratulating LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the rest of the Heat players after the defeat. Rondo did speak to reporters, though not at length.
Garnett, 36, is due to become a free agent July 1. He reportedly has talked of retiring, but the Celtics and several other teams are expected to try to coax at least one more year out of the 14-time All-Star.
