Kevin Youkilis Given Another Day Off, Adrian Gonzalez Back in Right Field Against Cubs

In an ideal lineup for the Red Sox, you'd like to see Adrian Gonzalez, David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and Will Middlebrooks all on the field together. But to make that happen someone (lately usually Gonzalez) has to play out of position.

However, in a National League ballpark, without the advantage of the designated hitter, that scenario turns out to be impossible, forcing one of that foursome to prepare for a pinch hitting role. Well, lately it's been Youkilis who's been forced to ride the pine, as the corner infielder has been slumping lately, going 0-for-15 over the last seven days.

Another interesting note on the Red Sox lineup, Jarrod Saltalamacchia is occupying the cleanup role. Salty is also going through perhaps his roughest stretch of the season so far (one for his last 18 at-bats), but on the season still owns a .512 slugging percentage while solidifying his role as the Red Sox everyday catcher.

That lineup will take on Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija, the only player Chicago president of baseball operations Theo Epstein says is untouchable as a potential trade target for other teams.
