Matt Cain is going to have to hit golf balls into McCovey Cove with a PGA golfer before every start now.

The San Francisco Giants pitcher turned in what some are calling one of the greatest pitching performances of all time on Wednesday night when he tossesd a 14-strikeout perfect game against the Houston Astros.

Cain took something of a calculated risk before the game, however, that must have had the Giants front office on edge. PGA golfer Dustin Johnson, who is in town for the U.S. Open at The Olympic, was on the field prior to the game hitting golf balls from home plate. Johnson and other Giants took turns hitting golf balls into McCovey Cove from home plate.

As impromptu range session was wrapping up, Cain stepped up to the plate. The big right-hander uncorked a pretty golf swing, launching a ball deep into the Cove.

A few hours later, he was celebrating the first perfect game in the history of the Giants franchise.

See video of that below.
