Tommy Lasorda Jokes That He Does ‘Bleed Dodger Blue’ After Suffering Mild Heart Attack

Tommy Lasorda was sent to the hospital on Monday.

According to TMZ, the 84-year-old Lasorda suffered a “mild” heart attack while he was in New York representing the L.A. Dodgers at the MLB draft, which started on Monday.

The report indicates that the baseball legend will be released on Wednesday.

In the meantime, he has kept his spirits up.

“The doctors confirmed I do bleed Dodger Blue,” Lasorda said in a statement on the Dodgers’ Twitter account. “I’m looking forward to being back at the stadium to cheer on the Dodgers.”

The former skipper is no stranger to heart problems. On June 24, 1996, Lasorda drove himself to the hospital after experiencing abdominal pains which turned out to be a heart attack.

He officially retired on July 29, 1996 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 as a manager in his first year of eligibility.
