Will Middlebrooks Replaces Kevin Youkilis, After Third Baseman Is Ejected for Arguing With Umpire

Kevin Youkilis wasn't happy with striking out to end the bottom of the sixth inning, wasting a prime scoring opportunity with the bases loaded.

Youkilis felt the strikeout pitch was low and decided to let out his pent up frustration on home plate umpire Doug Eddings. The veteran ump didn't give Youk much of a leash in the conversation, tossing the Red Sox third baseman but seconds into their dispute.

Rookie infielder Will Middlebrooks took Youk's spot in the field at the start of the seventh inning.

The argument wasn't too vile and Dustin Pedroia was able to calm Youkilis down and pull him from the situation before anything escalated, a la Brett Lawrie. So there shouldn't be any follow up repercussions for the 33-year-old.
