Carl Crawford Upset That Police Officer Who Made Racist Comments at Him Still Getting Paid During Suspension

BOSTON –– The police officer that yelled a racial slur toward Carl Crawford has been suspended with pay.

Leominster mayor Dean Mazzarella announced Wednesday that he had punished John Perreault after an internal investigation concluded that Perreault shouted the epithet while Crawford was rehabbing for the Portland Sea Dogs.

Upon hearing the news, Crawford was upset that Perreault was still getting paid after his controversial comments.

"I don't really know how I feel about that," Crawford said. "It's just disappointing it had to happen and that it was a police officer, but it's one of those things you've got to let go.

"You'd think as a nation we've gotten past that kind of stuff. It's one of those things where hopefully that's the last time something like that happens."

At this point, Crawford said he wants to leave the situation in the rearview mirror.
