Report: Scott Podsednik Released by Diamondbacks After Declining Assignment to Triple-A
The 36-year-old has reportedly been released by Arizona after only three days of being with the team after he declined an assignment to Triple-A.
The outfielder was acquired by the team along with Matt Albers from the Red Sox in exchange for Craig Breslow, but was by no means a throw-in.
Podsednik seemed to revive his career back in Boston as he was hitting a cool .387 before hitting the DL with a groin injury. With Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury returning to the Red Sox lineup, Podsednik became an expendable piece for the team.
The long-time journeyman will look to latch on with his eighth MLB club as a fourth or fifth outfielder, as he provides late-game speed and great defense.
