Aron Johannsson may not be a household name in soccer circles, but that could soon change.
The AGF Aarhus attacker broke a Danish Superliga (first division) record when he scored a hat-trick in less than four minutes.
Johannson scored all four goals in his team’s 4-1 win over Horsens on Monday, but it was the first three that made news around the world.
The 21-year-old scored in the 32nd, 33rd and 36th minutes, taking all of three minutes and 50 seconds to complete the feat.
Johannson broke a record that former Danish great Ebbe Sand set 15 years ago.
It will take a minor miracle to break what is believed to be the world record. That belongs to Tommy Ross, who scored three goals in 90 seconds for Scottish club Ross County on Nov. 28 1964. Nowadays, goal celebrations can take that long, so Ross’ record should stand for some time.
