One week after threatening to punch radio host Glenn Ordway “right in the mouth” during his weekly radio appearance on WEEI’s The Big Show, Valentine reported to his next appointment, which Ordway described as a “lovefest,” with a pair of boxing gloves in tow.
“I got your lovefest right here,” Valentine joked on the air, audibly pounding his gloves.
In a better mood this time around, the Red Sox manager and Ordway sorted out the aftermath of their past conversation and clarified the nature of Valentine’s comments.
The two also posed for a good-natured photo preparing to spar, with The Big Show co-host Michael Holly playing referee and keeping the two separated. In the end, Valentine and Ordway seemed to find some healthy middle ground in their bout.
Valentine indicated during the interview that he hopes to return to the Red Sox in 2013 and beyond, so if he does, we should be able to expect many more rounds between these two.
For now, we’ll score this one a draw
