Iker Casillas has picked his choices for the FIFA manager of the year award according to Spanish media.
Spain national team manager Vicente del Bosque is Casillas' top candidate for the prestigious award ahead of his boss at Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho who would be Iker’s second place choice and Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo who would be his third.
In this way, del Bosque would get five points, Mourinho three and Di Matteo one based on Casillas' election.
On Monday, it was published that the Real Madrid captain also had his top three choices for the FIFA Golden Ball award, where his top choice is teammate Sergio Ramos, leaving Cristiano Ronaldo on second and Spain teammate Xavi in third. He will not include Lionel Messi in his three best player choices.
The Merengue goalkeeper chose Ronaldo and Mourinho as his top choices for best player and best manager last season. His preferences this year could create a stir in Madrid's locker room — especially the best player election, where he is basically considering Ramos above Ronaldo, who has been the Golden Ball runner up two of the past three years. Picking del Bosque over Mourinho as first choice is also a controversial decision, but is more debatable since Del Bosque led Spain to victory at Euro 2012, while Mourinho took Real Madrid to its first La Liga title since 2008.
