Andrew Luck Sets NFL Rookie Passing Record in Playoff-Clinching Victory Over Chiefs

Cam Newton‘s record didn’t stand for very long.

Andrew Luck broke Newton’s rookie record for most passing yards in a season. Newton set the mark in 2012 with 4,051 yards. Luck needed just 74 yards to pass the record heading into Sunday afternoon.

Luck passed the mark on a 23-yard pass to fellow rookie T.Y. Hilton with just under a minute remaining in the first half. Luck finished the day with 4,183 yards on the season, and he will have a chance to increase his record in the Colts’ Week 17 matchup against the Texans.

The Colts didn’t just come out of Sunday with a new passing record. Their win over the Chiefs clinched a playoff berth for the 10-5 team. Indianapolis is locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC.
