Bruins Prospect Matt Grzelyck Cut From Team USA at World Junior Championship

A homegrown Bruin will not be taking the ice for Team USA at this year’s World Junior Championship, as defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has been cut from the team in favor of Patrick Sieloff.

The 5-foot-9 blue liner, currently a freshman at Boston University, hails from Charlestown, Mass., and was drafted by the Bruins in the third round (85th overall) of the 2012 NHL draft.

As NESN’s Leah Hextall reports, the 18-year-old Grzelcyk will be on the outside looking in for the national team.
