LeBron James Asks ‘What the Hell’ NBA Lockout Was for After Seeing Sacramento Kings Sold for $525 Million

LeBron James makes about $20 million a year playing basketball and countless millions more in endorsements. However, even King James got a little upset after seeing the price tag on the Sacramento Kings, with the news that the team is being sold for a reported $525 million.

James blasted the NBA and its owners Sunday night on Twitter, wondering out loud why the league needed to lock out its players last year when the teams are obviously so valuable (and profitable) for the owners..

Despite his anger at the finances of the deal, James also seemed to express hope that the Kings would be able to stay in Sacramento. Noting that mayor (and former NBA player) Kevin Johnson and Kings fans will do “whatever it takes” to keep the team in place, James promised to wait and see what happens next.

Still, as a businessman, James did have to appreciate the Maloof family’s ability to make the most out of its investment.

“One thing is I can’t hate on [is] their hustle though,” James added in a later tweet. “Crazy.”
