Nail Yakupov Scores Dramatic Game-Tying Goal, Turns In Wild Celebration (Video)

The Edmonton Oilers were just seconds away from suffering another home defeat, this time to the Los Angeles Kings. With just a few seconds left, though, one of the game’s best young players scored a game-changing goal to tie things up.

That’s where things got got fun.

No. 1 pick Nail Yakupov was able to bat the puck out of the air past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick to make it 1-1 with just 4.7 seconds to play. Understandably, Yakupov was all kinds of jacked and pumped. The Russian youngster went berserk, taking off in a mad dash down the ice. After a few strides, he decided to channel his inner-Theo Fleury (this, of course), sliding down the ice — all the way back to his own end — on his knees.

The party didn’t end there. Sam Gagner would eventually pot the game-winner in overtime, setting off another celebration, albeit a little more subdued.

Check out Yakupov’s goal and celebration in the video below.
