Report: Sergio Romo Detained by Police for Violating Airport Rules

It seems that San Francisco Giants closers just like to have their names in the headlines.

Sergio Romo was detained by Las Vegas airport police after he couldn’t present proper identification on Tuesday, according to TMZ. After getting belligerent with a TSA agent, Romo was handcuffed and taken to a police station at the airport.

Police told TMZ that Romo appeared to be under the influence at the time. Romo was escorted off the airport’s property and was not allowed to fly.

Romo took over as the Giants’ closer in June after Brian Wilson had Tommy John surgery in April. He had a 1.79 ERA and 14 saves in 2012. Romo closed out Game 7 of the 2012 World Series for San Francisco. The Giants are not expected to bring Wilson back in 2013.
