Bill Parcells Says New England Fans Are Spoiled by Bill Belichick, Patriots

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before.

Bill Parcells says Patriots fans are spoiled due to their success over the past twelve years. The former New England coach would know, as he coached the team out of the dark days of the early 90s.

You guys are spoiled,” Parcells told Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe. “Really, you are. You’ve got to remember how the other half lives. You forgot. I was there for it, so I know. Just remember, you could be like some of these other franchises that you see. You got a couple of ’em in your division.’’

While Parcells makes a makes a good point, all Boston-area teams have spoiled the region with their recently rich resumes. But the Patriots particularly stand out as one of the most storied franchises of past decade.

Parcells, who coached the Patriots from 1993 to 1996, has admiration for Bill Belichick and confidence the team will prosper for years to come, despite their frustrating end to the 2012 season.

“He’s obviously disappointed in this year, but not despondent,” said Parcells. “He’s determined, like he always is. They have a good team. They’re going to be good for a while longer, I can tell you that.’’

The Patriots’ postseason woes as of late aren’t common, but the love around the league for Robert Kraft‘s team certainly is.
