Dallas Mavericks Institute Team-Wide Beard Pact, Won’t Shave Until They Reach .500

NHL teams retire the razors once they’ve clinched a playoff spot, but the Dallas Mavericks can’t wait any longer for some good luck.

About two weeks ago, O.J. Mayo, Dahntay Jones and Vince Carter initiated a beard pact that the rest of the team soon adopted. According to the pact, the Mavs will remain a scraggly bunch until the team returns to its winning ways.

“We said we’re not going to shave until we’re back to .500,” Dirk Nowitzki said. “So it’s been rough. There’s been some itching going on. And since we’re still down seven games below .500, that’s a long way to go.”

The Mavericks are 21-28 right now, but with six of their next seven games at home, the beards could be coming off soon. If not, though, this team may start to look less like the Dallas Mavericks and more like the cast of Duck Dynasty.
