Mike Napoli Can Increase Activity After MRI on Hip Showed Positive Results, No Change

There’s good news coming out of Red Sox spring training — Mike Napoli can increase his activity.

The MRI came back on Napoli’s hip and the results were positive. Napoli said the condition has not worsened, which was the desired outcome of the test, according to Tom Caron of NESN. Napoli can now ramp up his activity, including taking grounders and running.

The new Red Sox first baseman expects to be ready by opening day. He originally signed a three-year contract with Boston before it was discovered he had a hip condition called avascular necrosis. Napoli has said he never even noticed symptoms of the injury.
