Kevin Garnett told reporters in the locker room after the game that the team was informed Barbosa would join Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger on the sideline for the rest of the season. No surgery date has been scheduled.
Barbosa appeared in 41 games for the Celtics, averaging 5.2 points in 12.5 minutes per game. In his last six games, he had upped his production to 8.0 points and 2.7 assists in 20.8 minutes per game off the bench.
Without the speedy guard off the bench, the Celtics are down to three healthy backcourt players on the roster and their options are limited. They finish the first half of the season on Wednesday against the Bulls before heading into the All-Star break.
