Bud Selig Says He Is Retiring As MLB Commissioner After 2014 Season
The MLB commissioner says he’s done after the 2014 season. Selig has previous hinted at retiring after the 2009 and 2012 seasons.
“I am done. I do understand some of the feeling out there, but I am done Dec. 31, 2014. That’s it,” Selig told Eric Fisher of the SportsBusiness Journal.
The 78-year-old has officially served as commissioner since 1998. He was the acting commissioner from 1992 to 1998 after Fay Vincent resigned from the position. Before taking over commissioner responsibilities, Selig owned the Milwaukee Brewers.
