James is averaging 26.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game as the Heat have won 24 straight games, and look to extend that streak Friday against Detroit. James has already won three MVP awards so far, but adding a fourth would put King James in an elite class alongside some of the game’s greatest.
James is tied with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Moses Malone with three NBA MVPs each. Adding a fourth would match him with Wilt Chamberlain for the third-most all time and put him one behind Michael Jordan and Bill Russell.
Jordan’s total of five MVPs is second to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s six. James is only 28 years old, and if he stays healthy stands a good chance of surpassing Abdul-Jabbar’s mark.
