Report: Danny Woodhead Signs Two-Year Deal With Chargers

Another offensive weapon from the Patriots 2012 season is on his way to new pastures.

Just two days after wide receiver Wes Welker signed with Denver, running back Danny Woodhead reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Chargers, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston. According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, the Pats made an offer to Woodhead, but the Chargers “simply made a better one.” A total of eight teams were reportedly showing interest in the running back.

Woodhead played 16 games last season and racked up 301 rushing yards on 76 carries to go with four touchdowns. Woodhead also caught 40 balls for 446 yards and three touchdowns.

In three years with the Pats, Woodhead rushed for 1,199 yards and 10 touchdowns while tallying 982 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.
