Report: Steve Alford Signs Contract With UCLA Days After Signing Extension With New Mexico

The madness of March is starting to form off the court as well.

Steve Alford, who signed a 10-year contract extension with New Mexico on March 20, is headed to UCLA, according to Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. The seven-year deal is reportedly worth $2.6 million per season.

Alford’s son, Bryce Alford, a highly valued recruit, will accompany his father to UCLA.

Prior to joining the Lobos in 2007, Alford coached at Iowa and Southwest Missouri State, and has posted a 463-235 record in his coaching career. In his six-year tour with New Mexico, he published a 155-52 record.

New Mexico was eliminated by Harvard, the No. 13 seed, in the second round of the 2013 NCAA tournament.
