Texas Wide Receiver Cayleb Jones Assaults Longhorn Tennis Player in February, Suspended by Team Temporarily

A University of Texas wide receiver will potentially see prison bars instead of the playing time on the football field in the 2013 season.

Cayleb Jones, who committed to the Longhorns in 2011, could find himself locked in a cell for up to 20 years instead of a classroom this fall after punching Longhorn tennis player Joey Swaysland in the jaw outside a Texas nightclub on Feb. 22, according to the Associated Press.

It was reported that Swaysland was talking to Jones’ ex-girlfriend, volleyball player Katherine Bell, and Jones decided to take matters in his own hands.

Not only did the wide receiver’s actions cause a fractured jaw for Swaysland, but Jones has also been suspended by head coach Mack Brown until further details are resolved.

Jones has decided to hire an attorney.
