Chris Kluwe Tweets Farewell to Minnesota, Indicating Release From Vikings

It appears the “controversial punter” is out in Minnesota.

Chris Kluwe sent out two farewell tweets to the state of Minnesota on Monday morning, indicating his release from the Vikings. The team drafted UCLA punter Jeff Locke in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft, so it was apparent that Kluwe’s days were numbered.

Kluwe has made a name for himself not only with his leg, but also with his high-profile views supporting gay rights. Kluwe knew he wasn’t long for Minnesota after the Vikings drafted Locke. Kluwe told Pro Football Talk that his social activism was likely to blame for his future release.
