John Lackey Wins Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors for Consecutive Dazzling Performances

John Lackey had quite a week for the Red Sox, shutting down the Twins and Indians in consecutive starts.

In all, Lackey picked up two wins in 13 innings pitched, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits and three walks. Lackey allowed two runs, but neither was earned.

The righty lowered his season ERA to 2.72 and his WHIP to 1.13. He now has 40 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. Batters are hitting just .224 off the starter, who sports a 3-4 record.

Lackey has only given up more than three runs once this season. On May 14, he allowed five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings against the Rays. The 34-year-old has been stellar outside that one appearance after missing the 2012 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
