Adrien Broner Says ‘I Left With His Belt and His Girl’ After Beating Paulie Malignaggi in Split Decision (Video)

Adrien Broner had a lot to say after beating Paulie Malignaggi in a split decision for the welterweight belt.

There was a lot of trash talk between the two leading up to Saturday night’s fight, especially after Broner brought Malignaggi’s ex-girlfriend, Jessica Corazon, into the mix. Broner called her in May during a prefight press conference and brought her to another press conference on Thursday.

After Broner beat Malignaggi 115-113, 117-111 and 113-115, he taunted his opponent by saying “I left with his belt and his girl.” Malignaggi got back in Broner’s face after the derisive quote, and frantically yipped “Don’t brag about taking my side-piece.” Frankly, it looked like a scene straight out of reality television when Malignaggi chose to respond.

Broner moved up two weight classes to fight Malignaggi and told fans after the fight they could vote on who he fights next in response to criticism that he’s cherry picked his opponents. The 23-year-old is now 27-0 with 22 knockouts after turning pro in 2008. Broner is the WBC Lightweight Champion and WBA Welterweight Champion.
