Jason Vargas Placed On Disabled List With Blood Clot In Left Armpit

The Los Angeles Angels announced they have placed starting pitcher Jason Vargas on the 15-day disabled list because of a blood clot found in his left armpit.

Vargas has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise sub-par year for the Angels. The lefty is 6-4 with a 3.65 ERA in his first season with Los Angeles after being traded from the Seattle Mariners during the offseason for Kendrys Morales.

Vargas was 5-1 with a 3.06 ERA in his last seven starts for the Angels, who are sitting in third place in the American League West division.

The move to the disabled list is retroactive to June 18 and there is no information regarding a possible return date for Vargas.
