Red Sox Draft Right-Hander Teddy Stankiewicz With No. 45 Overall Pick (Video)

The Red Sox used their first draft pick Thursday night on a left-hander, drafting high-schooler Trey Ball. With their second pick, they chose a righty.

Boston drafted Seminole State (Okla.) pitcher Teddy Stankiewicz with its first pick in the second round (No. 45 overall) of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Stankiewicz, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound right-hander from Texas, was taken in the second round last year by the Mets but chose not to sign. He went 4-5 with a 2.52 ERA, 70 strikeouts and just 10 walks in 60 2/3 innings this season, and because Seminole State is a junior college, he was eligible for this year’s draft.
