Report: Dwight Howard to Visit Rockets, Mavericks After Free Agency Starts on July 1

Dwight Howard could be playing basketball in the Lone Star State in 2013-14.

The star center will visit the Rockets and Mavericks after NBA free agency starts on July 1, according to ESPN.com. Howard has been recruited by Houston guard James Harden since the Rockets’ season ended.

To free up some cap room for Howard, the Rockets plan to trade 2012 No. 5 overall pick Thomas Robinson, according to an April report by ESPN. The rookie forward averaged 4.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 15.1 minutes in 70 games this season. Robinson was traded from the Kings along with Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt for Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas and Cole Aldrich.

The Rockets and Mavericks could offer Howard a four-year, $90 million contract. The Lakers could give Howard a five-year deal worth $120 million.
