Report: JaMarcus Russell Has Workout Scheduled With Bears on Friday, Receiving Interest From Ravens

JaMarcus Russell is receiving more interest on the open market than Tim Tebow or Vince Young.

Now that Russell has slimmed down to 265 pounds, the former No. 1 overall pick has a workout scheduled with the Bears on Friday, according to Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com. The Bears will also be bringing Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer to their facility for a tryout, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Chicago has just Josh McCown and Matt Blanchard behind starter Jay Cutler. Russell hasn’t taken an NFL snap since 2009. He’s a career 52.1 percent passer and accumulated 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions in 31 games.

The Ravens have also showed interest in Russell, according to Rapoport. They have Tyrod Taylor and Caleb Hanie behind Joe Flacco on the depth chart.
