Report: Spurs Assistant Coach Brett Brown ‘Extremely’ Interested in Celtics’ Head Coaching Job

Brett Brown grew up in Maine, rooted for the Celtics and played college basketball at Boston University. It appears he’s interested in returning to his roots.

The longtime San Antonio Spurs assistant coach has expressed interest in filling the vacant head coaching position for the Boston Celtics, league sources told the Boston Globe on Friday.

However, Brown may not be on the market for very long. The Portland native has been linked to rumors that he will serve as the successor to former head coach Doug Collins in Philadelphia.

As of Friday, the Celtics and the 76ers are the only two franchises without a head coach, and Brown is considered to be one of the top candidates available.

Brown has been a Spurs assistant for the past seven years and is in line replace lead assistant Mike Budenholzer, who left for the Atlanta Hawks’ head coaching job.
