Brandon Workman Wins Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors After Terrific First Major League Start

It came down to two young, homegrown pitchers for Amica Pitcher of the Week honors, but the award goes to Brandon Workman.

The 24-year-old dazzled in his first major league start, throwing 6 1/3 innings of two-hit baseball. He struck out five and only walked one batter.

Workman wasn’t able to come up with the win against the Athletics, but he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and should earn a second start in the big leagues before Clay Buchholz returns.
