Chauncey Billups Will Wear No. 1 After Andre Drummond Gives Up Number for Returning Piston

There are many ways to show respect to teammates on the basketball court, and Andre Drummond just earned that of Chauncey Billups with one simple action.

As Billups returns to Detroit, a place that fostered much of his success, he will be wearing jersey No. 1. Drummond wore the number for the 2012-13 season but will wear No. 0 come the season opener.

Even though Billups has made his way around the league from New York and Minnesota to Denver and Los Angeles, his six seasons with the Pistons are the foundation on which his career was built. And although his jersey number differed depending on the team — No. 3 in Toronto, No. 4 in Boston, Denver, Minnesota and New York and No. 7 in Denver during a different stint — No. 1 was only for Detroit.

Drummond made the announcement via Twitter before Billups was introduced as a Piston on Tuesday.
