Danny Amendola, Wes Welker Are ‘Different,’ Daniel Fells Says

If any player on the Patriots could compare and contrast Danny Amendola and Wes Welker, it’s Daniel Fells. Fells didn’t exactly do that on Saturday.

The eighth-year tight end played with Amendola with the Rams in 2009 and 2010. He played with Welker in New England last season, and now, he’s back with Amendola. He was asked about the similarities between the two players.

“They’re different,” is all Fells offered.

When asked to expound, Fells said, “Different names.” OK then.

Fells did cooperate on a second nudge, saying he can’t tell after just two days of training camp back with Amendola.

“You know what? It’s still to be determined,” Fells said. “I haven’t really been out there and played with Danny in a long time. So, I can’t necessarily say if their games are completely different or if they’re similar. I’m still waiting to see myself.”

The two certainly look similar on the practice field, though Amendola has taken more deep routes in his first two training camp practices than we were used to from Welker.
