Freddie Freeman, Steve Delabar Win MLB All-Star Game Final Vote Over Yasiel Puig, Koji Uehara, Others

Baseball fans have chosen to send Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman and Blue Jays relief pitcher Steve Delabar to the MLB All-Star Game, casting a record-setting 79.2 million combined votes to determine the final vote winners.

Freeman was in a close race with Dodgers rookie phenom Yasiel Puig on the National League side, but he was able to best Puig with a record 19.6 million votes. He also edged Hunter Pence (Giants), Ian Desmond (Nationals) and Adrian Gonzalez (Dodgers).

Delabar, meanwhile, topped a group made up entirely of relief pitchers on the American League side, including Koji Uehara (Red Sox), David Robertson (Yankees), Joaquin Benoit (Tigers) and Tanner Scheppers (Rangers).

The Midsummer Classic is set for Tuesday night at the Mets’ Citi Field.
