But not all is flush.
Mickelson earned $2.1765 million for winning the British Open last week, but he didn’t get to keep much of it. He lost 61 percent of that take to various taxes. And it’s not like he couldn’t use the dough — Mickelson is trying to move a house that he once had on the market for $12 million. He’s now asking $6.995 million for the 4.55-acre estate.
The Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., property is inspired by Old World European charm, with antique furnishings, hand-carved marble and hand-cut tiles. The Tuscan-style home includes five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a steam room, a gym with a sauna, and a safe room. Outdoor amenities include the standard millionaire’s pool and outdoor kitchen, but Mickelson’s property is also set apart by one other unique feature: a putting green.
It’s a pretty ridiculous house, no matter the price. In other words, Mickelson’s bad days are still miles better than most people’s good ones.
