Report: Celtics ‘Talking With’ Brazilian Center Vitor Faverani

One Brazilian big man is never enough. The Celtics found that out last season, when rookie Fab Melo dominated the D-League with the Maine Red Claws but was never able to make an impact in Boston. Now the C’s may take another shot with a different Brazilian behemoth.

Vitor Faverani and the Celtics are “talking” about a deal, the Boston Herald reports, although it is uncertain how close they are to an agreement. Also, it appears Faverani has a buyout situation with his current club in Spain, which could lessen the Celtics’ interest. The Celtics would only be interested in Faverani if the price is not too great, obviously.

Faverani, 25, went undrafted in 2009 after playing with a Spanish farm team in Velez-Malaga, Andalusia. The 6-foot-11, 260-pound Faverani is listed as a power forward. He has played for a variety of Spanish teams in the last eight years, most recently with CB Murcia of the Liga ACB.
