Report: Pistons Reach Out to Celtics, Interested in Trading for Rajon Rondo

If Danny Ainge ever changes his mind about trading Rajon Rondo, it appears he has plenty of options.

The Pistons have reached out to Ainge and the Celtics about their interest in trading for the All-Star point guard if he were to become available, according to CBSSports.com.

Ainge has repeatedly shot down ideas of trading Rondo since he completed a trade last Thursday that sent franchise cornerstones Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn in exchange for role players and future draft picks. The Celtics are officially in rebuilding mode, and there is speculation that Rondo could be the next to go.

But Ainge says he’s not unloading Rondo, who is recovering from an ACL injury, or any other players, for that matter.

“Maybe the assumption is that we’ll give away any of our players,” Ainge said on Monday. “”There’s been calls for all those guys. And maybe the assumption is we are just changing everybody, but we’re not.”

“The calls are coming in,” Ainge added, “the calls have not been going out.”

In addition to the Pistons, the Mavericks appear to be another team calling Ainge about Rondo, according to several reports.
