Tim Tebow, Tom BradyFOXBORO, Mass. — Tim Tebow was teammates with Aaron Hernandez for three years and 15 days — three years at the University of Florida and 15 days with the New England Patriots.

The third-string quarterback met with the media on Friday morning after his first training camp practice with the Patriots and said all he was allowed to about his former teammate.

“It was heartbreaking and it was sad and we’ve been advised, as I’m sure you’ve heard a bunch of times, not to comment on ongoing legal investigation,” Tebow said. “So I’m not going to comment further. But it’s heartbreaking and sad and all my thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that were involved.”

Tebow was polite with the media when they pressed on the issue, saying, “I understand why you have to ask those questions. That’s part of doing your job. Part of mine is listening to instructions,” after being asked if he was shocked when he heard about the allegations.

Tebow chose not to comment when asked if Hernandez had contacted him before the arrest.

It appears the Patriots have gone into full shutdown mode on the Hernandez questions. Hernandez’s other former Florida teammate Brandon Spikes also elected not to comment.
