Xander Bogaerts, Garin Cecchini Coming Off Big Weeks in Red Sox Minor League System (Gallery)

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Red Sox this season is who will play shortstop and third base.

It looks like Jose Iglesias has earned a starting role at one of the two positions, but with a recent injury to Stephen Drew and Will Middlebrooks‘ demotion to Pawtucket, a lot of questions remain.

No matter what the short-term fixes may be, many Sox experts think the future of the left side of the infield belongs to Xander Bogaerts.

Bogaerts has only played 25 games with the PawSox, but they have been effective ones. While he may not be ready this season, expect to see Bogaerts in Boston sooner rather than later.

Middlebrooks, however, is improving in Pawtucket, which should be encouraging for Red Sox fans. He had his biggest game yet during an 11-5 PawSox win on July 3, when he went 4-for-5 with eight RBIs and two home runs.

As for the prospects on the other Red Sox minor league teams, Garin Cecchini is continuing to impress in Portland, while Mike Augliera, Drew Turocy and Cleuluis Rondon each had big weeks as well.
