Andrew Luck Surprises Indiana High School Football Player Battling Internal Issues from Tackle (Photo)

A routine hit taken during a football game in Indianapolis has left fifteen-year-old Steven Bailey at Riley Hospital recovering from serious injuries.

During the second quarter of the game, the Edinburgh High School student was tackled, but the seemingly normal hit caused no need to worry at first.

“I’ve seen him get hit like that a hundred times. I wasn’t concerned,” Steven’s father, Harvey Bailey told WTHR-TV in Indianapolis.

At halftime, however, Bailey collapsed and had to be rushed to a local hospital. Once there, doctors told the sophomore that he was bleeding internally and had lost a quart of blood after suffering a ruptured spleen, a lacerated kidney and a punctured lung.

Bailey, whose season has come to an abrupt and scary end, expects to make a full recovery and get back out on the field by next season. While he’s still in the hospital though, he had a special visitor stop by to boost his spirits.

Andrew Luck heard about the high schooler’s story, and the Colts quarterback made a visit to the hospital to surprise Bailey as well as give him a signed football.
