C.J. Spiller Will Run Ball ‘Until He Throws Up’ This Season, Bills Offensive Coordinator Says

C.J. Spiller had better get his conditioning in during camp. He’s going to be doing a whole lot of running this season.

“It’s real simple,” Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett told WGR’s The Howard and Simon Show on Wednesday. “We’re going to give him the ball until he throws up. So he’s either got to tap out or throw up on the field. Let’s just put it that way.”

Many in Buffalo believed that Spiller, a fourth-year running back out of Clemson, was misused last season. Spiller picked up a career-high 1,244 yards but carried the ball just 207 times — good for 22nd in the NFL — despite the Bills’ dismal passing attack.

Now, with an entirely new regime in place under first-year head coach Doug Marrone, Buffalo plans to make the former first-round pick the focal point of the offense. And with rookie EJ Manuel and the oft-injured Kevin Kolb battling for the starting quarterback job, a heavy dose of Spiller might not be a bad idea.
