Dustin Pedroia, Jarrod Saltalamacchia Ask Josh Reddick to Hit Home Run in First At-Bat, He Says He’s Already Hit Five

Josh Reddick busted out of his slump in a big way during the series against Toronto. The A’s outfielder hit five home runs in the first two games against the Blue Jays, but with a chirpy audience in attendance on Monday, Reddick couldn’t deliver on any long ball requests that were thrown his way.

Dustin Pedroia, Jonny Gomes and Jarrod Saltalamacchia opted to spend their rare day off at the Rogers Centre before kicking off a series with the Blue Jays on Tuesday. The trio had prime seats right behind home plate, which made it convenient to yell out demands to Reddick to enhance their overall ballpark experience.

According to Oakland A’s beat writer, Susan Slusser, Saltalamacchia and Pedroia told their former teammate to hit a home run in his first appearance at the plate. The A’s outfielder casually replied, “I don’t know if I can, I’ve already hit five.”

Former Red Sox Brandon Moss also got in on the action and had some fun with his old teammates.

“I did make some inappropriate gestures toward them,” Moss told Slusser with a smile, then added jokingly, “In all honesty — who has an off day in Toronto and comes to a baseball game? I feel like that’s a cry for attention. ‘I”m going to be on TV!’ You play in Boston — you don’t get enough attention?”
