Jason Dufner Misses Single-Round Major Record After Leaving Final Putt Short (Video)

Jason Dufner had a chance to make history Friday afternoon.

Nobody has ever shot a single-round score of 62 at a major championship, but Dufner had the opportunity to do just that by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th green at Oak Hill, the home of this year’s PGA Championship. But he 36-year-old left his putt just short, forcing him to settle for a second-round 63.

Dufner shouldn’t be too hard on himself, though, as his score still set a course record and put him at nine-under for the tournament, two strokes ahead of Adam Scott for the lead.
